Divorcing couples are battling over hidden Bitcoin This ...

Bitcoin is a sleeping bull. Here's why:

  1. Accumulation by institutions: Overlay the NASDAQ chart over bitcoin and you see incredible increase in correlation since November 2019. What has happened here? Simple, the retail investors/miners who have been selling for the last 3 years have been selling to institutions, rather than fellow retail investors. Bitcoin did not die, it was just entered a bear market where money traded hands from retail and into institution's hands.
  2. Buy the rumor sell the news: digital dollar. For those of you who do not know, there has been strong bipartisan interest in the United States creating their own digital currency, using blockchain technology. There was legislation hidden for the creation of this digital dollar inside one of the early stimulus bills that almost passed.
  3. Technical analysis: If it bitcoin breaks 10.5k, expect an explosive price pump to 14k, and I honestly don't think 14k will be very strong resistance, I honestly would expect the most serious level of resistance will be around 19-20k. If bitcoin fails to break 10.5k, expect a shakedown to the 20 week moving average which currently is around 8.2k.
  4. Gold fundamentals are bitcoin fundamentals, both are stronger than ever: The idea of having a currency that is finite, and divorced from any centralized bank or government is super attractive in the post covid world we live in today. Countries have getting a little too comfortable pressing the print button to print their way to riches. On the very long time frames, birth birthrates are freefalling on the global level, especially among the wealthiest countries whose currencies' supply are inflating exponentially to record highs. The supply of unbacked fiat will at some point surpass the demand and we will see the age of centralized banks come to an end.
  5. Bitcoin has already overtaken silver: Bitcoin has a market cap about 4 times larger than silver, and gold has a market cap about 75 times larger than bitcoin. Bitcoin has plenty of room to grow in this niche, and the digitization of it's nature could allow for it to expand in many areas where gold can not.
  6. The inflation rate gets cut in half every four years: it's current yearly inflation rate is 1.80%. In four years, the inflation rate will be approximately 0.9%. In 8 years, the inflation rate will be at ~0.45%, etc... Even if the demand stays the same for gold and bitcoin, bitcoin will overtake gold's market cap in a few decades just by looking at the stock to flow ratio of both commodities.

Where is Bitcoin Going and When?

Where is Bitcoin Going and When?

The Federal Reserve and the United States government are pumping extreme amounts of money into the economy, already totaling over $484 billion. They are doing so because it already had a goal to inflate the United States Dollar (USD) so that the market can continue to all-time highs. It has always had this goal. They do not care how much inflation goes up by now as we are going into a depression with the potential to totally crash the US economy forever. They believe the only way to save the market from going to zero or negative values is to inflate it so much that it cannot possibly crash that low. Even if the market does not dip that low, inflation serves the interest of powerful people.
The impending crash of the stock market has ramifications for Bitcoin, as, though there is no direct ongoing-correlation between the two, major movements in traditional markets will necessarily affect Bitcoin. According to the Blockchain Center’s Cryptocurrency Correlation Tool, Bitcoin is not correlated with the stock market. However, when major market movements occur, they send ripples throughout the financial ecosystem which necessary affect even ordinarily uncorrelated assets.
Therefore, Bitcoin will reach X price on X date after crashing to a price of X by X date.

Stock Market Crash

The Federal Reserve has caused some serious consternation with their release of ridiculous amounts of money in an attempt to buoy the economy. At face value, it does not seem to have any rationale or logic behind it other than keeping the economy afloat long enough for individuals to profit financially and politically. However, there is an underlying basis to what is going on which is important to understand in order to profit financially.
All markets are functionally price probing systems. They constantly undergo a price-discovery process. In a fiat system, money is an illusory and a fundamentally synthetic instrument with no intrinsic value – similar to Bitcoin. The primary difference between Bitcoin is the underlying technology which provides a slew of benefits that fiat does not. Fiat, however, has an advantage in being able to have the support of powerful nation-states which can use their might to insure the currency’s prosperity.
Traditional stock markets are composed of indices (pl. of index). Indices are non-trading market instruments which are essentially summaries of business values which comprise them. They are continuously recalculated throughout a trading day, and sometimes reflected through tradable instruments such as Exchange Traded Funds or Futures. Indices are weighted by market capitalizations of various businesses.
Price theory essentially states that when a market fails to take out a new low in a given range, it will have an objective to take out the high. When a market fails to take out a new high, it has an objective to make a new low. This is why price-time charts go up and down, as it does this on a second-by-second, minute-by-minute, day-by-day, and even century-by-century basis. Therefore, market indices will always return to some type of bull market as, once a true low is formed, the market will have a price objective to take out a new high outside of its’ given range – which is an all-time high. Instruments can only functionally fall to zero, whereas they can grow infinitely.
So, why inflate the economy so much?
Deflation is disastrous for central banks and markets as it raises the possibility of producing an overall price objective of zero or negative values. Therefore, under a fractional reserve system with a fiat currency managed by a central bank – the goal of the central bank is to depreciate the currency. The dollar is manipulated constantly with the intention of depreciating its’ value.
Central banks have a goal of continued inflated fiat values. They tend to ordinarily contain it at less than ten percent (10%) per annum in order for the psyche of the general populace to slowly adjust price increases. As such, the markets are divorced from any other logic. Economic policy is the maintenance of human egos, not catering to fundamental analysis. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth is well-known not to be a measure of actual growth or output. It is a measure of increase in dollars processed. Banks seek to produce raising numbers which make society feel like it is growing economically, making people optimistic. To do so, the currency is inflated, though inflation itself does not actually increase growth. When society is optimistic, it spends and engages in business – resulting in actual growth. It also encourages people to take on credit and debts, creating more fictional fiat.
Inflation is necessary for markets to continue to reach new heights, generating positive emotional responses from the populace, encouraging spending, encouraging debt intake, further inflating the currency, and increasing the sale of government bonds. The fiat system only survives by generating more imaginary money on a regular basis.
Bitcoin investors may profit from this by realizing that stock investors as a whole always stand to profit from the market so long as it is managed by a central bank and does not collapse entirely. If those elements are filled, it has an unending price objective to raise to new heights. It also allows us to realize that this response indicates that the higher-ups believe that the economy could crash in entirety, and it may be wise for investors to have multiple well-thought-out exit strategies.

Economic Analysis of Bitcoin

The reason why the Fed is so aggressively inflating the economy is due to fears that it will collapse forever or never rebound. As such, coupled with a global depression, a huge demand will appear for a reserve currency which is fundamentally different than the previous system. Bitcoin, though a currency or asset, is also a market. It also undergoes a constant price-probing process. Unlike traditional markets, Bitcoin has the exact opposite goal. Bitcoin seeks to appreciate in value and not depreciate. This has a quite different affect in that Bitcoin could potentially become worthless and have a price objective of zero.
Bitcoin was created in 2008 by a now famous mysterious figure known as Satoshi Nakamoto and its’ open source code was released in 2009. It was the first decentralized cryptocurrency to utilize a novel protocol known as the blockchain. Up to one megabyte of data may be sent with each transaction. It is decentralized, anonymous, transparent, easy to set-up, and provides myriad other benefits. Bitcoin is not backed up by anything other than its’ own technology.
Bitcoin is can never be expected to collapse as a framework, even were it to become worthless. The stock market has the potential to collapse in entirety, whereas, as long as the internet exists, Bitcoin will be a functional system with a self-authenticating framework. That capacity to persist regardless of the actual price of Bitcoin and the deflationary nature of Bitcoin means that it has something which fiat does not – inherent value.
Bitcoin is based on a distributed database known as the “blockchain.” Blockchains are essentially decentralized virtual ledger books, replete with pages known as “blocks.” Each page in a ledger is composed of paragraph entries, which are the actual transactions in the block.
Blockchains store information in the form of numerical transactions, which are just numbers. We can consider these numbers digital assets, such as Bitcoin. The data in a blockchain is immutable and recorded only by consensus-based algorithms. Bitcoin is cryptographic and all transactions are direct, without intermediary, peer-to-peer.
Bitcoin does not require trust in a central bank. It requires trust on the technology behind it, which is open-source and may be evaluated by anyone at any time. Furthermore, it is impossible to manipulate as doing so would require all of the nodes in the network to be hacked at once – unlike the stock market which is manipulated by the government and “Market Makers”. Bitcoin is also private in that, though the ledge is openly distributed, it is encrypted. Bitcoin’s blockchain has one of the greatest redundancy and information disaster recovery systems ever developed.
Bitcoin has a distributed governance model in that it is controlled by its’ users. There is no need to trust a payment processor or bank, or even to pay fees to such entities. There are also no third-party fees for transaction processing. As the ledge is immutable and transparent it is never possible to change it – the data on the blockchain is permanent. The system is not easily susceptible to attacks as it is widely distributed. Furthermore, as users of Bitcoin have their private keys assigned to their transactions, they are virtually impossible to fake. No lengthy verification, reconciliation, nor clearing process exists with Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is based on a proof-of-work algorithm. Every transaction on the network has an associated mathetical “puzzle”. Computers known as miners compete to solve the complex cryptographic hash algorithm that comprises that puzzle. The solution is proof that the miner engaged in sufficient work. The puzzle is known as a nonce, a number used only once. There is only one major nonce at a time and it issues 12.5 Bitcoin. Once it is solved, the fact that the nonce has been solved is made public.
A block is mined on average of once every ten minutes. However, the blockchain checks every 2,016,000 minutes (approximately four years) if 201,600 blocks were mined. If it was faster, it increases difficulty by half, thereby deflating Bitcoin. If it was slower, it decreases, thereby inflating Bitcoin. It will continue to do this until zero Bitcoin are issued, projected at the year 2140. On the twelfth of May, 2020, the blockchain will halve the amount of Bitcoin issued when each nonce is guessed. When Bitcoin was first created, fifty were issued per block as a reward to miners. 6.25 BTC will be issued from that point on once each nonce is solved.
Unlike fiat, Bitcoin is a deflationary currency. As BTC becomes scarcer, demand for it will increase, also raising the price. In this, BTC is similar to gold. It is predictable in its’ output, unlike the USD, as it is based on a programmed supply. We can predict BTC’s deflation and inflation almost exactly, if not exactly. Only 21 million BTC will ever be produced, unless the entire network concedes to change the protocol – which is highly unlikely.
Some of the drawbacks to BTC include congestion. At peak congestion, it may take an entire day to process a Bitcoin transaction as only three to five transactions may be processed per second. Receiving priority on a payment may cost up to the equivalent of twenty dollars ($20). Bitcoin mining consumes enough energy in one day to power a single-family home for an entire week.

Trading or Investing?

The fundamental divide in trading revolves around the question of market structure. Many feel that the market operates totally randomly and its’ behavior cannot be predicted. For the purposes of this article, we will assume that the market has a structure, but that that structure is not perfect. That market structure naturally generates chart patterns as the market records prices in time. In order to determine when the stock market will crash, causing a major decline in BTC price, we will analyze an instrument, an exchange traded fund, which represents an index, as opposed to a particular stock. The price patterns of the various stocks in an index are effectively smoothed out. In doing so, a more technical picture arises. Perhaps the most popular of these is the SPDR S&P Standard and Poor 500 Exchange Traded Fund ($SPY).
In trading, little to no concern is given about value of underlying asset. We are concerned primarily about liquidity and trading ranges, which are the amount of value fluctuating on a short-term basis, as measured by volatility-implied trading ranges. Fundamental analysis plays a role, however markets often do not react to real-world factors in a logical fashion. Therefore, fundamental analysis is more appropriate for long-term investing.
The fundamental derivatives of a chart are time (x-axis) and price (y-axis). The primary technical indicator is price, as everything else is lagging in the past. Price represents current asking price and incorrectly implementing positions based on price is one of the biggest trading errors.
Markets and currencies ordinarily have noise, their tendency to back-and-fill, which must be filtered out for true pattern recognition. That noise does have a utility, however, in allowing traders second chances to enter favorable positions at slightly less favorable entry points. When you have any market with enough liquidity for historical data to record a pattern, then a structure can be divined. The market probes prices as part of an ongoing price-discovery process. Market technicians must sometimes look outside of the technical realm and use visual inspection to ascertain the relevance of certain patterns, using a qualitative eye that recognizes the underlying quantitative nature
Markets and instruments rise slower than they correct, however they rise much more than they fall. In the same vein, instruments can only fall to having no worth, whereas they could theoretically grow infinitely and have continued to grow over time. Money in a fiat system is illusory. It is a fundamentally synthetic instrument which has no intrinsic value. Hence, the recent seemingly illogical fluctuations in the market.
According to trade theory, the unending purpose of a market or instrument is to create and break price ranges according to the laws of supply and demand. We must determine when to trade based on each market inflection point as defined in price and in time as opposed to abandoning the trend (as the contrarian trading in this sub often does). Time and Price symmetry must be used to be in accordance with the trend. When coupled with a favorable risk to reward ratio, the ability to stay in the market for most of the defined time period, and adherence to risk management rules; the trader has a solid methodology for achieving considerable gains.
We will engage in a longer term market-oriented analysis to avoid any time-focused pressure. The Bitcoin market is open twenty-four-hours a day, so trading may be done when the individual is ready, without any pressing need to be constantly alert. Let alone, we can safely project months in advance with relatively high accuracy. Bitcoin is an asset which an individual can both trade and invest, however this article will be focused on trading due to the wide volatility in BTC prices over the short-term.

Technical Indicator Analysis of Bitcoin

Technical indicators are often considered self-fulfilling prophecies due to mass-market psychology gravitating towards certain common numbers yielded from them. They are also often discounted when it comes to BTC. That means a trader must be especially aware of these numbers as they can prognosticate market movements. Often, they are meaningless in the larger picture of things.
  • Volume – derived from the market itself, it is mostly irrelevant. The major problem with volume for stocks is that the US market open causes tremendous volume surges eradicating any intrinsic volume analysis. This does not occur with BTC, as it is open twenty-four-seven. At major highs and lows, the market is typically anemic. Most traders are not active at terminal discretes (peaks and troughs) because of levels of fear. Volume allows us confidence in time and price symmetry market inflection points, if we observe low volume at a foretold range of values. We can rationalize that an absolute discrete is usually only discovered and anticipated by very few traders. As the general market realizes it, a herd mentality will push the market in the direction favorable to defending it. Volume is also useful for swing trading, as chances for swing’s validity increases if an increase in volume is seen on and after the swing’s activation. Volume is steadily decreasing. Lows and highs are reached when volume is lower.
Therefore, due to the relatively high volume on the 12th of March, we can safely determine that a low for BTC was not reached.
  • VIX – Volatility Index, this technical indicator indicates level of fear by the amount of options-based “insurance” in portfolios. A low VIX environment, less than 20 for the S&P index, indicates a stable market with a possible uptrend. A high VIX, over 20, indicates a possible downtrend. VIX is essentially useless for BTC as BTC-based options do not exist. It allows us to predict the market low for $SPY, which will have an indirect impact on BTC in the short term, likely leading to the yearly low. However, it is equally important to see how VIX is changing over time, if it is decreasing or increasing, as that indicates increasing or decreasing fear. Low volatility allows high leverage without risk or rest. Occasionally, markets do rise with high VIX.
As VIX is unusually high, in the forties, we can be confident that a downtrend for the S&P 500 is imminent.
  • RSI (Relative Strength Index): The most important technical indicator, useful for determining highs and lows when time symmetry is not availing itself. Sometimes analysis of RSI can conflict in different time frames, easiest way to use it is when it is at extremes – either under 30 or over 70. Extremes can be used for filtering highs or lows based on time-and-price window calculations. Highly instructive as to major corrective clues and indicative of continued directional movement. Must determine if longer-term RSI values find support at same values as before. It is currently at 73.56.
  • Secondly, RSI may be used as a high or low filter, to observe the level that short-term RSI reaches in counter-trend corrections. Repetitions based on market movements based on RSI determine how long a trade should be held onto. Once a short term RSI reaches an extreme and stay there, the other RSI’s should gradually reach the same extremes. Once all RSI’s are at extreme highs, a trend confirmation should occur and RSI’s should drop to their midpoint.

Trend Definition Analysis of Bitcoin

Trend definition is highly powerful, cannot be understated. Knowledge of trend logic is enough to be a profitable trader, yet defining a trend is an arduous process. Multiple trends coexist across multiple time frames and across multiple market sectors. Like time structure, it makes the underlying price of the instrument irrelevant. Trend definitions cannot determine the validity of newly formed discretes. Trend becomes apparent when trades based in counter-trend inflection points continue to fail.
Downtrends are defined as an instrument making lower lows and lower highs that are recurrent, additive, qualified swing setups. Downtrends for all instruments are similar, except forex. They are fast and complete much quicker than uptrends. An average downtrend is 18 months, something which we will return to. An uptrend inception occurs when an instrument reaches a point where it fails to make a new low, then that low will be tested. After that, the instrument will either have a deep range retracement or it may take out the low slightly, resulting in a double-bottom. A swing must eventually form.
A simple way to roughly determine trend is to attempt to draw a line from three tops going upwards (uptrend) or a line from three bottoms going downwards (downtrend). It is not possible to correctly draw a downtrend line on the BTC chart, but it is possible to correctly draw an uptrend – indicating that the overall trend is downwards. The only mitigating factor is the impending stock market crash.

Time Symmetry Analysis of Bitcoin

Time is the movement from the past through the present into the future. It is a measurement in quantified intervals. In many ways, our perception of it is a human construct. It is more powerful than price as time may be utilized for a trade regardless of the market inflection point’s price. Were it possible to perfectly understand time, price would be totally irrelevant due to the predictive certainty time affords. Time structure is easier to learn than price, but much more difficult to apply with any accuracy. It is the hardest aspect of trading to learn, but also the most rewarding.
Humans do not have the ability to recognize every time window, however the ability to define market inflection points in terms of time is the single most powerful trading edge. Regardless, price should not be abandoned for time alone. Time structure analysis It is inherently flawed, as such the markets have a fail-safe, which is Price Structure. Even though Time is much more powerful, Price Structure should never be completely ignored. Time is the qualifier for Price and vice versa. Time can fail by tricking traders into counter-trend trading.
Time is a predestined trade quantifier, a filter to slow trades down, as it allows a trader to specifically focus on specific time windows and rest at others. It allows for quantitative measurements to reach deterministic values and is the primary qualifier for trends. Time structure should be utilized before price structure, and it is the primary trade criterion which requires support from price. We can see price structure on a chart, as areas of mathematical support or resistance, but we cannot see time structure.
Time may be used to tell us an exact point in the future where the market will inflect, after Price Theory has been fulfilled. In the present, price objectives based on price theory added to possible future times for market inflection points give us the exact time of market inflection points and price.
Time Structure is repetitions of time or inherent cycles of time, occurring in a methodical way to provide time windows which may be utilized for inflection points. They are not easily recognized and not easily defined by a price chart as measuring and observing time is very exact. Time structure is not a science, yet it does require precise measurements. Nothing is certain or definite. The critical question must be if a particular approach to time structure is currently lucrative or not.
We will measure it in intervals of 180 bars. Our goal is to determine time windows, when the market will react and when we should pay the most attention. By using time repetitions, the fact that market inflection points occurred at some point in the past and should, therefore, reoccur at some point in the future, we should obtain confidence as to when SPY will reach a market inflection point. Time repetitions are essentially the market’s memory. However, simply measuring the time between two points then trying to extrapolate into the future does not work. Measuring time is not the same as defining time repetitions. We will evaluate past sessions for market inflection points, whether discretes, qualified swings, or intra-range. Then records the times that the market has made highs or lows in a comparable time period to the future one seeks to trade in.
What follows is a time Histogram – A grouping of times which appear close together, then segregated based on that closeness. Time is aligned into combined histogram of repetitions and cycles, however cycles are irrelevant on a daily basis. If trading on an hourly basis, do not use hours.
  • Yearly Lows (last seven years): 1/1/13, 4/10/14, 1/15/15, 1/17/16, 1/1/17, 12/15/18, 2/6/19
  • Monthly Mode: 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 4, 12
  • Daily Mode: 1, 1, 6, 10, 15, 15, 17
  • Monthly Lows (for the last year): 3/12/20 (10:00pm), 2/28/20 (7:09am), 1/2/20 (8:09pm), 12/18/19 (8:00am), 11/25/19 (1:00am), 10/24/19 (2:59am), 9/30/19 (2:59am), 8/29,19 (4:00am), 7/17/19 (7:59am), 6/4/19 (5:59pm), 5/1/19 (12:00am), 4/1/19 (12:00am)
  • Daily Lows Mode for those Months: 1, 1, 2, 4, 12, 17, 18, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30
  • Hourly Lows Mode for those Months (Military time): 0100, 0200, 0200, 0400, 0700, 0700, 0800, 1200, 1200, 1700, 2000, 2200
  • Minute Lows Mode for those Months: 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 09, 09, 59, 59, 59, 59
  • Day of the Week Lows (last twenty-six weeks):
Weighted Times are repetitions which appears multiple times within the same list, observed and accentuated once divided into relevant sections of the histogram. They are important in the presently defined trading time period and are similar to a mathematical mode with respect to a series. Phased times are essentially periodical patterns in histograms, though they do not guarantee inflection points
Evaluating the yearly lows, we see that BTC tends to have its lows primarily at the beginning of every year, with a possibility of it being at the end of the year. Following the same methodology, we get the middle of the month as the likeliest day. However, evaluating the monthly lows for the past year, the beginning and end of the month are more likely for lows.
Therefore, we have two primary dates from our histogram.
1/1/21, 1/15/21, and 1/29/21
2:00am, 8:00am, 12:00pm, or 10:00pm
In fact, the high for this year was February the 14th, only thirty days off from our histogram calculations.
The 8.6-Year Armstrong-Princeton Global Economic Confidence model states that 2.15 year intervals occur between corrections, relevant highs and lows. 2.15 years from the all-time peak discrete is February 9, 2020 – a reasonably accurate depiction of the low for this year (which was on 3/12/20). (Taking only the Armstrong model into account, the next high should be Saturday, April 23, 2022). Therefore, the Armstrong model indicates that we have actually bottomed out for the year!
Bear markets cannot exist in perpetuity whereas bull markets can. Bear markets will eventually have price objectives of zero, whereas bull markets can increase to infinity. It can occur for individual market instruments, but not markets as a whole. Since bull markets are defined by low volatility, they also last longer. Once a bull market is indicated, the trader can remain in a long position until a new high is reached, then switch to shorts. The average bear market is eighteen months long, giving us a date of August 19th, 2021 for the end of this bear market – roughly speaking. They cannot be shorter than fifteen months for a central-bank controlled market, which does not apply to Bitcoin. (Otherwise, it would continue until Sunday, September 12, 2021.) However, we should expect Bitcoin to experience its’ exponential growth after the stock market re-enters a bull market.
Terry Laundy’s T-Theory implemented by measuring the time of an indicator from peak to trough, then using that to define a future time window. It is similar to an head-and-shoulders pattern in that it is the process of forming the right side from a synthetic technical indicator. If the indicator is making continued lows, then time is recalculated for defining the right side of the T. The date of the market inflection point may be a price or indicator inflection date, so it is not always exactly useful. It is better to make us aware of possible market inflection points, clustered with other data. It gives us an RSI low of May, 9th 2020.
The Bradley Cycle is coupled with volatility allows start dates for campaigns or put options as insurance in portfolios for stocks. However, it is also useful for predicting market moves instead of terminal dates for discretes. Using dates which correspond to discretes, we can see how those dates correspond with changes in VIX.
Therefore, our timeline looks like:
  • 2/14/20 – yearly high ($10372 USD)
  • 3/12/20 – yearly low thus far ($3858 USD)
  • 5/9/20 – T-Theory true yearly low (BTC between 4863 and 3569)
  • 5/26/20 – hashrate difficulty halvening
  • 11/14/20 – stock market low
  • 1/15/21 – yearly low for BTC, around $8528
  • 8/19/21 – end of stock bear market
  • 11/26/21 – eighteen months from halvening, average peak from halvenings (BTC begins rising from $3000 area to above $23,312)
  • 4/23/22 – all-time high

Morning Sheet for June 11th

For Trading JUNE 11th
FED DOES NOTHING
NASDAQ at Another New High!
U.S. DOLLAR CONTINUES TO WEAKEN
Today’s market was just another day dominated by FAANG stocks with new all-time highs from AAPL, MSFT, AMZN, TSLA, and NVDA. But the DJIA was all over the place, spending the first hour headed down to the low of the day -334 before working higher and then taking off to the upside after the FED announcement making the high +83 by 2:30 and then heading back and forth and settling -282.31 (1.04, NASDAQ +66.59 (.67%), S&P 500 -17.04 (.53%), the Russell -39.66 (2.63 and the DJ Transports -246 (2.51%). Internals were not as weak as the market looked with NYSE A/D 2.5:1 and NASDAQ 1.8:1. Volume was about average and the DJIA was 23 down and 7 up with AAPL adding 61 and MSFT 48 DPs while BA was the big loser -91 with AXP, JPM, GS, and TRV each lower by 31DP’s. The strength came from Information tech (FAANG) but the weakness came from energy, financials, industrials and real estate. Not a good looking day.
Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 1900 members. I also did this video titled “How to survive being an options trader and not blow up your account,” over the long weekend. I think it’s very informative as a guide to stock selection and option choices. The link is https://youtu.be/Y7H9RpWfLlo Enjoy!!

SECTORS: The big news was no news from the FED, as expected. Rates fell slightly but the Financials fell hard. The forecasts for 2020 GDP (-6.5%) and 2021 (+5%) weren’t much of a surprise. The real news was Taubman (TCO) getting kicked to the curb by Simon Properties (SPG) and cancelling their marriage. The reaction was swift, sending TCO down to $26.70, but it finished $36.17 (9.08%) while SPG got less of a hit moving to $&* before it managed a close of $83.01 -3.46 (4%). This will not be a civil divorce. JP Morgan downgraded JBLU and UAL, sending JBLU down to $12.03 before coming back to $12.63 -1.58 (11.12%) and UAL to $38.30 before it too recovered a bit to $39.72 -4.92 (11.02%).

I met my now wife 14 years old. I'm now 28. It's a long story

So i'll take it back to the start, but try and be as short and quick as possible.
I met my wife at 14, we hit off and quickly became inseparable. She lived about a 2hour train ride and we would happily catch public transport every weekend to see each one another. Skipping school etc. It was some of the best days of my life :)
It was a great few years, as soon as we turned 18 we got our own house and started living together, pretty young I know. But I managed to get a decent paying job so it wasn't an issue. We began partying, clubbing, experimenting with drugs. Alcohol and drug use started to affect our relationship, we began to fight and argue a lot. I thought about ending the relationship. I was 18, all my mates were out there single having fun... we broke up for a few weeks. I didn't get with anyone, either did she that I know of.
A year or two go by, I had stopped the drug use and partying and focussed on working and making money, my wife seemed to enjoy partying a lot more than myself. She would stay up late and I would often go to bed. This was a very normal occurrence. At this stage, I was probably 20-21 years old. I wanted to settle down and focus on buying a house, being an adult. I know 21 is super young but I'm not normal haha.
After working hard for a year. I had saved enough for a house deposit and an engagement ring. We built our dream house and I continued to work hard. We managed to go on several overseas holidays a year. She never really had to save or worry about money. I had set us up very comfortably by the age of 23.
Fast forward a few years. We have been living in our home for 5 years, had 2 dogs and began partying again after ticking the house and wedding off the list. We had traveled to probably 30 countries by this stage and I was making more money than ever. I became obsessed with cryptocurrency. Having been an early investor in bitcoin. It consumed my life. I pushed everyone away, reading charts, chatting to friends online all over the world and making ridiculous amounts of money. Giving my wife whatever she wanted, thinking she was happy... I had also quit my day job as a carpenter. Travelling to Bali or Japan with friends. Leaving my wife at home because she had to work.
This went on for about a year and half. The markets crashed I lost 80% of everything I had made. It hurt me so much and impacted the relationship due to my mood swings.
We eventually got back on track, traveling, working, and just enjoying life.
This brings us to last year. Whilst on holiday in the US, New York be exact. We headed home from a great night out at a bar overlooking the Brooklyn bridge. It was absolutely amazing.
Arriving back to our Airbnb. I picked up her phone and saw a message from someone. I hadn't seen this messaging app and immediately recognized the guy's name. Patrick. I read a few more messages and absolutely broke down. She was telling another guy she loves him, sending him pics whilst on holiday with me. I never thought she would be the one to cheat, completely trusted her. I had never cheated and was 100% faithful.
I left the Airbnb and got a hotel for the night, I couldn't sleep all night. My mind racing, heart-pumping... I'm on the other side of the world with this person who has just hurt me more than I could ever imagine. We still had another two weeks left on the trip, visiting her mum and family in Mexico.
After two days locked away in the hotel room, I decided I needed to talk to her. I had so many questions.. why, how, for how long, do you love him? She knew she had fucked up and was very remorseful... But i also knew i fucked up. I completely pushed her away and put work/money before her. Thinking I was doing the right thing providing for her.. when she wanted me emotionally aswell.
We spoke for days locked away in that airbnb.. and I decided to continue on with the trip with the plan to decide on what I would do when we get back to Australia.
Back in Australia things were rough. I didn't know what to do. She broke my trust, I had developed serious trust issues but after being together so long. I just couldn't bring myself to end the relationship and get divorced.
This was over a year ago... I finally built up the courage to move out but can't stop talking to her. I love this woman so much. Shes been my best friend for half of my life and all I've known. I come from a broken home and virtually have no family. Her family welcomed me with open arms and i absolutely adore her mum. Losing her I fear i will lose her family also.
How do I end it completely? We have tried being friends but just fall back into our comfort zone.
I feel like running away and starting fresh...

Bitcoin Halving & the Step to Maturation

Bitcoin Halving & the Step to Maturation
It’s about a week to the long-expected Bitcoin halving.
You can easily find a counting down page by visiting the website of any exchange, online magazine or data aggregator. Yes — everybody is waiting for it.

Source: Bitcoin Block Half
It’s an event that brings both predictability and uncertainty.

What is Predictable?

Bitcoin was designed as a deflationary currency with a 21 million fixed supply, like gold. Over time, the issuance of bitcoins will decrease and thus become scarcer.
When it was first created, 50 Bitcoins per block were given as a reward to the miners. After every 210,000 blocks are mined (approximately every 4 years), the block reward halves and will keep on halving until the block reward per block becomes 0 (approximately by year 2140).
At about 06:18 UTC on May 12, 2020 (as of writing), the block rewards of Bitcoin will drop from 12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC.

What is Uncertain?

Source: https://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/
As is shown in this chart, we can note a significant price jump after each halving.
But will this time turn out to be a different story when both the stock market and the crypto market are much more volatile than usual due to the global COVID-19 pandemic?
The past few months saw a big shakeout in the crypto market due to the coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath. On March 12, the Bitcoin price dumped 40% touching $3,800 within the day, marking a Black Thursday of the year.
The stock market went through a severe crash too. The US stock market triggered the “circuit breaker” four times within 10 days.
Just recently, the Bitcoin price soared above $9,000 and has now retraced to $8,864 at the time of writing, according to the statistics on CoinMarketCap.
Nobody knows for sure how things will be when the halving happens. Will the Bitcoin price be even more volatile or will it stabilize?

2020 Bitcoin Maturity Test

According to the Bloomberg Crypto Outlook (April 2020 Edition), the increasing futures open interest, declining volatility and relative outperformance despite the stock-market shakeout this year indicates Bitcoin is maturing from a speculative crypto asset toward a digital version of gold.

Increasing futures open interest

Source: skew
The number of Bitcoin futures contracts outstanding listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has recovered significantly from the March lows, indicating a resurgence in institutions that want to buy the cryptocurrency. The high volume also represents taming of the highly speculative bull market.

Declining Volatility

Source: Bloomberg
This graphic shows that the correlation between Bitcoin and gold has jumped to the highest since 2010, twice that of equities, suggesting that Bitcoin is now divorcing equities and joining gold.

Bitcoin Outperformed Stock Market

Apart from that, Bitcoin is becoming less of a risk-on asset. In the first quarter of 2020, Bitcoin remained up about 9% when the S&P 500 showed a correction of 20%.

To Sum Up

2020 marks a key test for Bitcoin’s transition from speculative asset to the crypto market’s version of gold. We believe that the first-born crypto will pass the test to move towards a mature gold-like asset.

Need help figuring out if a dom is trying to scam me

I apologize if this is super long winded.
I am completely new to the BDSM world. A few weeks ago I started talking to a Dom through a site called AdultFreindFinder(she contacted me) and i'm now pretty sure its a scam but I would like a few others opinions to see if my hunch is correct.
I am going to post the transcripts of our email exchange and hopefully someone with more experience can shed light on this for me.
on AFF chat:
Her:
I'm new here and the website sent me your profile and says you are my new match, I don't know if you got my profile as well. After checking your profile out and seeing our compatibility chart is very high, I guess we might be a match after all. So this what I am looking for, am looking for a submissive pussy licking sex slave who is interested in BDSM/Kinky play, the key word here being SUBMISSIVE and BDSM/KINKY play. I know this is not for everyone, but if this something you want or dream about we can fulfill your fantasies together do check out my profile and send me a message ASAP.
Mistress Ann.
P:S This is going to be a soft BDSM sex slave, very mild bondage, this will be exploring more of pleasure than pain. Disregard this message if you don't have any submissive tendencies at all.
Me:
This is intriguing and I am interested in learning more about you and the domain of submission. I will be honest and say that I have very little experience in the kinky play area but I consider myself very open to experience.
Her:
Perfect let's continue this conversation in a more private environment. What I seek is a smart, intelligent, obedient and eager to serve sub and I think that might be you. Reply this message with your email address so I can contact you and set in motion the process to make you my submissive slut just because I don't get on here as much as I would like and I wouldn't want to leave you in limbo about making you my sex slave...
Mistress Ann.
Me:
At this point I give her a throw away email address

Chat moves to email:
Her:
I'm very pleased to be contacting you via regular email, the little exchanges we have had so far shows that our interest is aligned. This is the first step into making you all that you can become in serving and making me happy and in the process satisfying you as well and you need to be dominated by such a beautiful lady as myself in a real-life scenario.
This is not a trail for you to know and discover if you are submissive or not. For this, to work you have to know you are submissive and ready to stay submissive. If at this point you are unsure, I'll advise you to stop reading this email now, ignore it and not reply so no more time is wasted cause this is going nowhere if you are not truly submissive. If you have kept on reading and sure you are submissive then we can move forward and proceed.
I expect you to always be honest with me to be my slave, respecting me goes without saying slave you must always remember that you are the slave always in this relationship, therefore, I make all the decisions in this dynamic and you must always refer to me as MISTRESS. Like I previously pointed out and am sure by now you know that for this to work on any level you have to be submissive not playing at it. You will be dominated and toyed with by me for both our pleasures and the full spectrum of BDSM which may include, ass worship, anal penetration (mine), physical humiliation, psychical punishment (yours), forced masturbation, as long as its within your boundaries, you will be punished accordingly if you fail to attain my goals of you pleasing me. I will have variations of cute names that I will call you such as slut pie, sex slut you will answer to these names when I call you.
Anything public is of limits for me slave, I value my privacy very much, this means that all our plays will only be behind closed doors to assure maximum discretion, at no point will I send you any nude pictures of me via any medium even after our sessions have started. I hope you are insatiable as I am and ready to go on for long hours to please me, slave. During our plays protection will be paramount until such a time that you can show me that you are clean, safe and disease free as I am. For now, you are under a period of evaluation that will help me to determine if you are suitable to be my slave in the long term cause that's my ultimate goal. Since we have established that you are indeed submissive I don't envisage any problems with making you my slave and that process can start after you have replied this email.
Your Mistress Ann.
Me:
Yes Mistress.
Her:
Excellent my slave, I'll like to start with knowing your name.
Mistress Ann.
Me:
I give her my nickname
Her:
I am a mature and sexy 36-year-old woman, divorced and originally from Germany. I came over here 5 years ago back when I was still married to my husband. I was married for 4 years and divorced for 2.My whole life is here now a slave and am looking forward to making you a part of it. I don't know the caliber of women you have come across in your life but there is none in my class. I have been an active player in this lifestyle for a while and know what am doing, of course, you are welcomed to make your thoughts known if you think they are contrary to mine but with respect, remember you are the slave always. I am a bisexual domme with experience of unparalleled domination and alluring control. I want to make you my slave with my understanding of the Psychological and Physical aspects of this lifestyle. I am strict when the occasions call for it and sensual and provocative when I choose to be. I am quite generous and you have to be as well to be my slave.
Like I emphasized in my previous email we are moving ahead because I am sure by now you know for sure that you are submissive that this is definitely for you, so you won't have any problems relinquishing control to me slave? I can be free early in the day or late in the evening depending on my workload, I can work around your availability as well, let me know what times you think are best for you my slave. I want to start spending time with you ASAP slave, am ready to meet and start training you, you do however have to satisfy all of my criteria to be my acceptable slave slut and this you will know in due time my slut, its a short process that you must go through. At least we should be able to have at least a session together within a 2 week period, we will be able to manage this more effectively after a couple of sessions together. Training will be at my place for straight up sessions, we met on a sex site we both know that our aim is sexual gratification, so there will be no wining and dining just making our fantasies and desires a reality.
My fantasies and desires are more "BD" and very much less of "SM".So there will be no sadistic intentions towards you my slave. There will be more of role-playing and playing with sensual toys and accessories my slave, am familiar with almost every scenario of role-playing my slut, just keep in mind my slut whatever role we are playing Sexy professor and student, Sexy nurse, and patient whatever it is am always in control. I am a mistress with little limits, dominant very strict and caring, I have been a mistress for a pretty long time, as a lifestyle choice and I have experienced almost every fetish, either with slaves that I have owned myself or at fetish parties with my other dommes friends. However, I would love to know your limits so it can help me in molding you to be my perfect slave. I live in Oakland, so planning for our sessions with being easier and less stressful. We live in close proximity to each other we can have short sessions of about 2-3 hours at regular intervals.
I have further instructions for you.I'm dead serious about being the ONLY mistress you can have other filings(non-dominant girlfriend/wife) but I must be your only mistress, when you are with me, I want your full attention if you are going to be the slave for me I hope you are, if by now you still have others(dominant women), I want you to get rid of them and that is my first order to you and it requires your maximum obedience. Your second task is to send decent pictures of yourself to me in your next email no dick pics slave, I want to see what you look like and reply with more details about you using my email as a source of inspiration.
Your Mistress Ann.
(she sent me pictures of herself in lingerie as well at this point)
Me:
Mistress,
I am ready to submit and be your slave.
I am a 29 year old single man, never married and no significant women in my life currently. I am 5'8" tall and have a fit/athletic build. I have never had a mistress before and I look forward to being your slave. I trust you and only you to be my mistress. I think its admirable that you are so true to yourself and know who you are and what you want. I am happy to serve you and be a part of that vision.
My schedule shifts from week to week, there are times when I am very busy or out of town and other times when I am free. Later in the evening/night can work for me more consistently, however morning may also be open depending on the day. If I am in town weekends are generally open and available. This we can work out on a session to session basis and I will do my utmost best to conform to your preference. I would also like to start ASAP. I am okay with the frequency of at least 1 session every 2 weeks, however I am open to increasing this as you train me to be your slave. This can start as soon as tomorrow(Sunday 5/5). I will be unavailable from 5/8-5/13 as I will be out of town.
In terms of my limits, I am fairly open to most things on the "BD" side of things. I feel as you train me and our relationship as mistress and slave grows that my hard and soft limits will become more clear as I gain understanding of how I will be serving you and what types of things we will be doing. One hard limit I have currently is not overextending my right shoulder backwards as I recently injured it and it is in the later stages of healing. This should not be a problem after a few more weeks. In terms of the "SM" side of things, you have already mentioned that this will be limited given your desires for me as your slave. That being said I am not comfortable with severe physical abuse resulting in excessive bleeding and scarring especially on commonly exposed areas of the body such as the face. As I mentioned earlier these limits will evolve as we journey down this path.
I have attached pictures of myself for you. I recently decided to get rid of my hair and have included pictures of me both with and without. I don't take many pictures of myself. Please let me know if you would like more.
I am ready to relinquish control to you and give you my undivided attention.
Your slave
Her:
I Wore Up Thinking About Using You My Sex Slave
You arrived as instructed at your Goddess home for training to commence. You knock on the door and wait. I open the door and using my finger signal for you to enter. I point to the floor, you remove your clothing and fold it neatly and place them in the corner, you turn around and then get down onto your knees and lower your head, and place your hands behind your back.
I place a collar on your neck, then I secure your hands behind your back. I then instruct you to look at me, as you raise your head I start to remove my clothes. I notice you becoming extremely hard and excited from seeing your Goddess remove her clothes, standing there with only her bra and panties on, I instruct you to remove my already soaked panties being so wet expecting you since using your teeth. You come closer to me on your knees and gently get your teeth on the waistband of my panties and slowly work them down, moving around me and focusing on the waistband of my panties. As you finally remove my panties, I have already removed my leash and now I look down on you attaching the leash to your collar and say," slut, if you are very good in your training today you will be rewarded very generously" you reply, yes Mistress." I then lead you to the side of the bed with you leash like my little slut bitch that you are...
I take the bonds of your hands and tell you to get on the bed, no on the bed I tie your hands to the headboard and your legs to the foot of the bed and then I start smothering you with my pussy while I popped your cock and balls with my crop (gently). I'm grinding my pussy in your face wiping my nectar all over you, and the sweet smell of juicy wet pussy and the stinging from my crop made your sissy cock so hard. Soon I'll cum in your face and force you to eat all of it. Then I take some clamps and placed them on each of your nipples. You grit your teeth as the sharp pinching sensations running through your body. Your mistress pops your cock and balls again with her crop turning your throbbing cock harder and harder. She pauses and then gently strokes it with her hand and spits on it. Mistress leans down and takes your cock in her mouth. She strokes up and down giving you firm bites along with your cock head and shaft as she goes. Then your mistress climbs on top of you and allows you to feel her pussy slide down on your cock while she tugs on the chain attached to the nipple clamps. You grimace in the sweet pain that makes you thrust up deep inside her. You so want to grab her and grind inside her, but she has you tied, and you are at my mercy as I tease you by pulling my pussy off of you and pulling on your nipples again. She uses her crop to spank your cock once again. I continue this cycle repeatedly training your cock to be obedient to my pussy until finally your Mistress mounts you for the final time and bounces up and down and back and forth on your grinding her clit down on you till you can hold it no longer. At that moment, Mistress gives a gentle yank on the nipple clamps and I cum so hard and intense feeling the sweet pain run down your body and through your cock as you erupt inside me.
Your Very Horny Mistress Ann.
Me:
I want nothing more than to please you mistress. Your desires are one with my desires. Please use me.
Her:
My Sex Slave,
I am very happy getting to know you better and glad I choose you to be my fucktoy bitch slave. Your words portray respect, readiness, and willingness to serve as my worthy sub. I am going to do everything to make you my perfect slave, through light and erotic assignments, teasing and other activities that will bring your true submissive nature out to the surface my fucktoy slut.
Been a lifestyle domme my slut, am not in a mistress mode all the time, when our relationship takes off there will be some flirting, kissing and touching that might be considered vanilla a scenario where we just enjoy each other and not necessarily in a Mistress/slave setting. However, keep in mind that our relation stems from a Mistress and slave dynamic and you must remember you are the slave always. I do a little volunteer work when I can and am a registered member of the red cross. I work as an interior designer and decorator, it can be quite a tasking job with deadlines and perfectionist clients but I like to push myself as much as I can and I enjoy it. I am excited and looking forward to the memorable times we'll share together as Mistress and slave.
This is my evaluation so far my fucktoy bitch slave ***, through our communication, you have opened up to me my slave and with a little training, you can become my perfect male slut. Your response to my erotic email very enthusiastic my slave and it showed me that indeed you are ready to become a fucktoy bitch slave. We'll proceed with starting our session. I'll get back to you on the dates and times we can begin. Reply ASAP.
Love Your Mistress Ann.
Me:
Mistress,
The more I learn about you, the more I feel like I have to learn from you. I am ready to begin this new relationship with you as your slave. I hold volunteer service in a high respect and am turned on by the fact that you do work for the greater good. I am eager to begin training with you. Nothing would make me happier than to be the slave you want me to be even in those times where you are not in mistress mode, I am your slave.
I have actually recently become interested in interior design of small intentional spaces for the purpose of creating the most ideal environments to support mind, body and soul. I would love to learn from you in that way as well.
My anticipation to serve you grows by the minute, I look forward to hearing back from you.
Your humble slave
Her:
My pussy licking cum slavetoy
I want you to grab my ass in ecstasy while I ride your face with my juicy wet pussy. I want our bodies to connect on a spiritual level with our hands, fingers, breathe and everything else sensually entwined. I have a very wild imagination and I would love to help you reach your highest point of pleasure as you serve me, I want to take you on a journey (long term) if you prove worthy of my SUPREMACY. Your cock is mine to do with as I please my fucktoy bitch slave, this means you can only cum with my permission slave, from now on, no jerking off with my permission slave. I will teach you to make me squirt uncontrollably, I'll convert you into a fully automated pussy licking, ass worshiping slave puppy.
My panties are soaked thinking about using you my fucktoy slut love ***, we can have our sessions on the 15th and 17th and we can start in the morning around 11 am or evening around 5 pm on these dates. Let me know my fucktoy bitch slave if this timeline works for you. If we proceed from this point my slave there will be some financial commitments for both of us.
I have different approaches I used in training my slaves in the past my slave, I will study you my slave and determine what specific technique to use in teaching you all the different ways to please me. I have had 3 long term subs in the past my slave, one before I was married, another briefly about a year ago and I currently own a female slave that I play with from time to time, she is an air hostess so don't get to play with her as much as I would like which prompted my search for a male slave,I've been looking for a male slut for a little time now and I think I have found the perfect slave in you my slut. Looking forward to putting my collar of possession on you my slave and attach your leash and walk you around in your true submissive nature, you must not disobey my direct orders and wish slave, to please me you must always follow my instructions when it pertains to our mistress slave relationship. Respond ASAP
Your Mistress Ann.
(she sent me regular clothes pictures in this email(same woman from previous as per pictures)
Me:
The way you convey your desire through words is unparalleled. You paint a picture in my imagination that only makes me want to serve you more mistress. My primary purpose is to serve you and fulfill your deepest desires, anything above that is a mere bonus. My pleasure is secondary to your will and I will do anything to please you. I cant wait to be trained to be everything you want me to be. I can already feel the tension and its growing. You are now in control of my sexual impulses. The journey has already begun. I will worship you as the goddess you are. Lead and I will follow.
The 15th and the 17th works for me, I am not entirely sure of my work schedule yet. Lets tentatively meet in the morning on the Wednesday the 15th and in the evening on Friday the 17th.
I am open to the financial commitments. I'm curious about what this will entail?
I know that from the moment I lay eyes on you, I will be lost in your ocean. Unable to do anything but surrender.
Your humble slave
Her:
My fucktoy bitch slave, we'll begin our session on the evening of the 15th my fucktoy bitch slave ***. I am sure you know any form of relationship at some point will involve some financial decisions (dinner, the occasional gift and such). In a relationship like this, the financial decisions come early on in bondage clothing, bondage tools, and toys my fucktoy bitch slave to augment our experience. I enjoy been dominant so am Mistress, not a Dominatrix so I don't do this for money and I don't expect you to pay for sessions or anything like that my slave, however for our fantasies to become a reality and sessions reach its sexual satisfying peak there are tools needed to augment that experience my slave.
Your Mistress Ann.
Me:
Yea I expected all of that.
Is there anything you would like me to get prior to our first session mistress? I want to be as ready as possible so that I may be able to serve you to the best of my ability. Your slave
Her:
My Fucktoy Bitch Slave,
Your darkest passions still lie dormant inside you my fucktoy slut, I haven't even begun to tap in your full total submissiveness, my slave. These desires are waiting, sweltering and pulsing with every breath waiting for your Goddess to awaken them with just a single touch and mold and stimulate you into perfection. I will be hosting our training session at my home in Oakland my fucktoy bitch slave. I will like to spend at least spend up to 3 hours with you my fucktoy bitch during our first session, our first time together is going to be quite exciting, you and I are going to discuss at length what's about to happen in our session together and both decide on a safe word if one as to be chosen.

Me:
Yes mistress, I am out of town. I apologize for the delayed responsiveness, I am away from my computer and phone most of the time while I am here. I will be back in town on Monday night or Tuesday morning. Please advise me of further details about the next steps and I will do my best to proceed within the given time frames that you provided.
My fire to serve you grows every day.
Your slave
Her:
My fucktoy bitch slave ***, I hope you are having a great time at the festival, my slave. I'm super excited as well my fucktoy bitch slave, can't stop thinking of using you my slut. Planning on getting a collar with maybe your name on it my fucktoy bitch slave what do you think. Like I alluded to my slave you'll be making payment for your share of the bondage gear directly to my supplier. She is a mistress as well very versed in the lifestyle, reliable and I always get my bondage tools from her. The method of payment will be bitcoin, my slave. Are you familiar with bitcoin?
Love Your Mistress Ann.
Me:
Mistress,
Forgive me for my lack of responsiveness, I did not get back from my trip until yesterday and had work straight away until 8pm.
I am not too familiar with bitcoin. That being said, I dont quite understand why all this discretion needs to take place in the acquisition of simple items for our sessions. It seems a bit much given that we haven't met yet.
Her:
Ok, slave ***, first you don't reply to my emails on time and now you are the expert on what as to happen before we begin our sessions?

Thats where we've left off so far and im not sure if I should continue conversing with her or if I should just call it quits. It seems sketch that the acquisition of these toys/items will be done through her friend and that its paid for using bitcoin. This feels like a textbook toys scam to me but a very well played one. That being said if it isn't I can only imagine the things that will ensue....

We need to talk. The Bitcoin that Satoshi envisioned is dying as people just walk away.

We need to have a talk.
I've been a part of the bitcoin community since 2011 and right now I genuinely think Satoshi's vision for bitcoin is on the very edge of disappearing forever. Long-time community members are simply throwing their hands up and walking away. I know I have come pretty close to doing that myself.
If we don't do something before too many users leave we will have no hope in changing Bitcoin's course back to what everyone originally envisioned. In all honestly we may already be too late. If you look at the charts for this sub you will see the use of it has been steadily declining over the past few months. I'm noticing less and less participation is happening in each post with only 2 or three post on the front page getting much conversation going and they are usually over some controversy.
There are a number of reasons why this is happening. Firstly, one of the major reasons is Gregory Maxwell and his foot soldiers. He is outsmarting everyone here because the reality is, he is smarter than most people here. Here is what some of their main tactics are though. If you know them and take my advice it may help the situation;
Greg and his supporters accuse his opponents of all the things that he and his side do. This is highly effective, as to a casual observer it makes it very difficult to differentiate who is the one that is actually causing the problem. Most observers will simply think both groups are as bad as each other. It is not unlike the situation in sci-fi movies where there is an alien (or something similar) that transforms into a replica of someone and both are standing side-by-side calling the other the "phony" and only upon close inspection you are able to see which is the actual "phony". This is very difficult to defend against.
A second tactic they commonly use is to make some kind of prophecy based on little to no evidence, then they will work towards making that prophecy come true by any means necessary.

Some examples; btc has been under social attack from day one. It is a similar social attack that has been going on (and has succeeded) on bitcoin. There is a slightly different tactic being used on btc though.
On bitcoin they had the explicit support of theymos which meant that when the social attack started last year, anyone who went against it (i.e. pretty much everyone in the sub) theymos would simply ban them until the voice of the attackers outweighed or balanced the voice of the supporters. bitcoin being the main sub for bitcoin communication meant it is usually the first place new users become part of the bitcoin community. What they then get is a completely alternative view of bitcoin than the one most of us got any time before summer 2015. This was then taken to be the status quo by the new users and therefore was the view that they held. This meant that the sub started to fill with these new users who support the arguments given by the attackers. It worked, and if you go read the comments in bitcoin now you can see that it is a completely different community than at any time before summer 2015.
A trip down memory lane
The social attack on btc is different than the one on bitcoin in that they don't have the explicit support of the top mod here (memorydealers). This makes their task more difficult as they can't simply have the view they want to be removed eradicated by banning anyone who states those views. It is worth noting that originally they did try to make this tactic possible by getting btcdrak on the list of mods. He did this by socially engineering memorydealers through social media. It was effective until the community here made enough of a fuss to have him removed. Instead their backup plan is now to make this place the "cesspool" they are proclaiming it to be (remember I said one of their tactics is to make prophecies come true). They do this by having a team of people posting in here day in day out stirring the pot and causing messy arguments. Over the last month or so they have been upping the ante and Greg himself has been coming here to create as much controversy as possible. Specifically he is trying to draw the devs of Bitcoin Classic and Bitcoin Unlimited out by attacking them both personally and professionally. He and his foot soldiers are purposely trying to turn btc into a shithole to push people away from the sub, and it's working. You can see posts here all the time from valuable members of the community saying they no longer want to be a part of the community any more. The stats back it up as well. Large numbers of the community are moving into other cryptocurrencies or simply giving up on cryptocurrency all together.
They are winning.

There only three ways to defend against this kind of attack.
  1. Do not engage with these people. Their effectiveness comes from how big their platform is. The more you engage with them the bigger their voice is. I understand the argument that bad/false arguments should be corrected, but this is not effective. It takes 1000 times more effort to counter bullshit than it does to counter the truth. You will never win this way (unfortunately). If you feel what they are saying does not have value or has negative value simply downvote and discuss with other people in the thread. That is not to say that people should not debate with genuine people, but there are specific users who ARE NOT GENUINE. They are not here for genuine debate.
  2. memorydealers you need to remove the trolls . There are some here that would call it censorship but you are not banning an idea. You are banning the shit stirring that goes on here on a daily basis. What these attackers want most is a platform. It's the reason why they spend so much time complaining about the censorship here but spend zero time complaining about the censorship in bitcoin. They don't actually care about about censorship. They care about socially attacking the community and to be able to do that their accounts need to be able to post here. I am sure there will be some amount of community backlash but at this point what do you have to lose? The community here is dying anyway.
  3. We need to fork bitcoin and stop debating whether a block size increase should happen or not. The debate has happened. No compromise was made by Core and they have decided they are going to do what they want to do and nothing anyone else is going to say is going to stop them. Miners have shown almost 100% support in bitcoin core and there is absolutely zero indication that this will change. If anything, their support seems to be growing. We need a divorce and one that happens as cleanly as possible. A clean divorce is far better for everyone than an unhappy marriage. That means we have to simply stop engaging with core and hoping that things will change. Support for a fork needs to increase and all effort needs to go into making it successful. This is the ONLY way users are going to be given a voice. We need support from the teams of Bitcoin Classic and Bitcoin Unlimited. All of these teams (including the one that is gathering around the btcforks project) supports a multi-client and free-choice development environment and all support on-chain scaling. If we work together we will have a much much higher likelihood of success.
These are the users that I believe to be attacking both btc and bitcoin (and I am certain there more):

No one has to take my advice and you are welcome to call this all bullshit but I decided to put in all the effort I can over the next months in a last ditch effort to try and save bitcoin, and that includes trying to save the community here. I'd like to end this with a quote from the movie Interstellar;

"We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars, now we just look down and worry about our place in the dirt."

EDIT: There is a perfect example HERE in this thread of what I am talking about.
Lejitz stirs shit up. Then mufftrader response which encourages Lejitz to fling twice as much shit.
EDIT: It seems to be working. The trolls are now resorting to simply talking to themselves in this thread.

EDIT: I should add that if you want to take part in the btcforks project you can join our sub at btcfork or you can join our slack at btcforks.signup.team.

Blinded by Emotions or Wise to the Charts!

There may be some interested in this good Bitcoin analysis.
It's not a new phenomenon, however recently I'm noticing a lot more wishful thinking from 'investors.'
This has been no more noticeable than in AVZ, where every bit of information was somehow construed to be positive regardless of whether it was bad or meaningless. I also see this in gold, where bulls are perpetually convinced that "the bottom is in" regardless of what the charts are showing.
So here is a good analysis for Bitcoin that touches on the same point.
https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/Znz3QG27-BTC-Blinded-by-Emotions-or-Wise-to-the-Charts/ "In almost every post I have stated the MOST Important tool in any traders tool box is the TREND! I cannot emphasize this enough. I even posted an update yesterday on how you can trade the trend void of EW and Fibb. They are only add-ons, and not the main tool. I see there are more opinions on the direction of Bitcoin then there are charts on TV (ok i'm old school and someone pointed out this was Trading View and not my 52" samsung). This post is mainly to show how powerful reading trends are. I have been asked numerous questions on price points, what if we get to $4300, what if we get to $4600 does that mean we are going up. These are valid questions, and instead of just providing a yes or no answer I want to show how YOU yourself can determine this using simple trend lines! Yes the TREND IS YOUR FRIEND.
Ever wonder why relationships do not work out most of the time? Why we go through several in our early adult hood phase, and our true soul mate is many times right under our nose? Because you base your initial relationship on feelings, this feels good. Seldom do we look at how a relationship might work out at the beginning, and rush to get an apartment, have kids or get married, only for the relationship to fall apart. This is part of human psychology. Many times after years of failed relationships, we realize that our true soul mate was right there the whole time, and we ignored them because of the emotion called IMPULSE! Yes the impulsive emotion is one of, if not the most powerful emotion us humans feel, more importantly we must learn to control it. How many of you found your life long partner after many failed relationships and saying these words "I'm never getting in a relationship again". Hmmm What you were saying is "I will not let impulsive feelings choose my next partner". This is not only true in dating but in trading as well! But the outcome is the same. Impulsive emotions lead to money losses. Yes I've been divorced twice! So with this comparison let's see what is right under our nose and back to the question of what if.
Looking at the upper right chart if we draw a trend line , it is clearly going down. This is still a bearish overall trend regardless of the ups and downs throughout, much like a relationship. To the upper left, we have the what if scenario. If we get to $4500-$4600 and draw a trend line , it is still negative, this is like one great last vacation before the final divorce. Yes many of you know what I'm talking about. What would make me change my mind? When the trend continues up, or in simple words, make a new high. This means the equity has resumed it's uptrend. This is a very simple chart you yourself can draw and need to if you want to be better traders. But many are in denial that we could ever possibly get back to $2200, how can we as we have come so far. Let's take a look and see what the trend says.
The lower charts are a comparison of bitcoin and gold 0.45% . hmmm, look pretty similar. Many in 2012 thought they would never see $1000 gold 0.45% again. Well look at how that turned out by them thinking it couldn't happen! Look to the left, see a pattern with bitcoin . I even drew a box around gold 0.45% and the pattern it made before the great pullback. Look at the upper left chart, see a pattern? Now keep in mind Bitcoin travels at 10x's the speed of gold 0.45% as I posted before. What did the chart say on gold? Right back to the trend line , about $2200 on the bitcoin chart!
So bottom line, we can be blinded by emotions and trade on impulse and feelings, and continue to miss the obvious that is right under our nose. Is it going to happen? Nobody knows for sure, but the charts are clear that it can happen, and looking at the patterns, it is very likely. Once you remove the feelings from your trading you will become a better trader period! Whether a relationship works out nobody ever knows, but the more wise we become, we are able to spot the good ones by taking our emotions out of the game!"

Theology after Modernity

Something people don't adequately recognize is that the need for religion tends to outlast individual religions. Religions are born, grow, enter a period of stasis and then begin to die. Most modern religions tend to make absolute claims, in regard to the omnipotence of their deity, or the eternal application of their particular school of thought. This is not new however, it's merely a Darwinian innovation. If your religion acknowledges the existence of other deities, or the temporal nature of the wisdom that it has to offer, it will tend to appear more vulnerable than religions that refuse to acknowledge the presence of validity in other schools of thought.
For this reason, Christianity was suppressed, but nonetheless managed to conquer Europe: It made claims of absolute universal truths and endorsed the exclusive devotion to a tribal deity that emerged in Judea. Why this sole God initially chose to endorse a particular tribe of desert-dwelling war-mongering Semites before embarking on a universal project of tolerance, eternal salvation and brotherhood is a bit of a mystery. Why did God decide to endorse this particular tribe living in the Middle East that seems otherwise unremarkable?
Why does God elevate this tribe above others, before turning from a genocide-endorsing maniac into a loving father to all of mankind? It's quite clear that the universalism intrinsic to modern Christianity is an evolutionary innovation, but this conflicts with the notion of an eternal unchanging God. One popular approach to brush off this paradox is to simply spend as little time as possible in church covering the Old Testament. The God who first endorses the extermination of the Amalekites, the people of Samaria and various other tribes had a change of heart that we decide not to notice. We pick out a few amusing stories about prophets swallowed by whales and giant floods that cover the world to offer a tradition to our children and decide not to pay attention to the rest of the sordid mess that is the Old Testament.
I'm hardly the first to notice this, most believers have noticed this contradiction, but they manage to come up with rationalizations. The problem is in fact as old as Christianity itself and gave birth to numerous heresies. Various Gnostic sects insisted that Yahweh of the Old Testament is not Jesus father, but a cruel entity instead that gave birth to the material world and tries to keep us away from the true God. These various sects never quite managed to stand the test of time, they died as most religions do.
Consider this: How many Manicheans do you happen to know? This religion that emerged in modern day Iran managed to spread as far as Southern France and China, where it survived until the 14th century. Christianity in contrast was a European phenomenon until around 500 years ago, with a few footholds in the Middle East struggling to survive and now nearing extinction. Christianity's future looked quite uncertain at different points in time, as Muslims managed to penetrate deep into the European continent on multiple different occasions.
As Europe rose to dominance after Columbus discovery of the New World, Christianity spread with it. It generally doesn't completely replace the indigenous traditions, it assimilates them until they are eventually more or less forgotten. None of this is new however. It's not coincidence that Jesus is born on the same day as the Romans held the feast of Sol Invictus. It's not coincidence either that Ireland has a Saint Brigid and a Goddess Brigid. The Way of the Saints, that sees people travel to Galicia from across Europe is not a novel phenomenon either, it existed long before Christianity came into existence. Muslims make less of a secret of the pagan roots of their religion. The Kaaba was filled with the idols of various deities, before Muhammed removed them. He maintained the black stone however.
Important to note is that monotheism is not a unique innovation either. Akhenaten sought to abandon polytheism and move towards a religion based solely upon the worship of the Sun, 1300 years before the birth of Jesus. After his death, his innovations were reversed and his existence was effectively covered up by successive Egyptian rulers. China harbored a monotheistic faith in heaven as an impersonal force too, thousands of years before the concept of monotheism became popular in Europe through Christianity. From what we know about the history of the Turkic people, it would appear that they too had a form of monotheism in the form of Tengri. Elagabalus in Rome sought to install his own Syrian Sun God, after whom he had named himself, as the supreme God of the Roman pantheon. This seems to be a common pattern in history and it's not by any means far-fetched to imagine Christianity as having incorporated this habit of sun worship that was spreading across the Roman empire at the time.
It's similarly rarely noted that the Bible starts out referring to God in plural form, until this practice is abandoned a few pages later. Religions tend to go through the same pattern, in which polytheism evolves into a system in which one God is seen as supreme over other Gods. It's hardly far-fetched to suggest that the cruel God of Abraham went through a similar evolution. Intelligent philosophies tend to ascribe an impersonal nature to this supreme force they try to grasp at, more crude philosophies portray a jealous God who simply doesn't wish for humans to worship alternative deities and hopes to exterminate those who do worship other Gods. Monotheism seems to thrive in two environments: Densely populated civilizations and barren deserts.
It's also worth noting that it can be hard to separate deities. We don't know whether Frigg and Freyja referred to the same individual God. We similarly don't know whether Sol Invictus should genuinely be seen as a separate deity from the ancient cult of Sol, or a revival of the cult of Elagabalus. Even today, opinions differ in regards to whether Allah of the Muslims should genuinely be thought of as the same deity as Yahweh of the Christians and Jews, or whether Islam should simply be thought of as an anti-trinitarian heresy, a kind of Middle Eastern equivalent of Arianism.
What we do know is that religion and spirituality in a broader sense of the world are integral aspects of the human experience. Cultures that abstain from religious practices tend to be more sickly than cultures that do harbor religious traditions. A secularized Europe is a continent that's readily finding its native people replaced by those who do profess their devotion to deities we used to worship ourselves. The transition towards a policy of state atheism has historically been one of the most bloody episodes in human history. The transition from Christianity towards Marxism in the Russian empire led to tens of millions of deaths.
The biggest atrocities have historically been committed in the name of abstract reason. Joseph de Maistre had a very important point, when he argued that authority ought to be based on irrational grounds. If a government's legitimacy is based in rational grounds, we will inevitably witness eternal arguments and disputes in regards to its legitimacy, that lead to violence and chaos. If people decide for themselves by whom they are ruled, rather than deities, humans can choose to settle upon someone else to rule them. More often than not however, they will disagree on who this next ruler should be and chaos is thus inevitable. In a democratic system chaos is prevented and long-term problems are solved, simply by borrowing from the future. This won't last forever.
Perhaps more important to understand is that spirituality never quite disappears, it simply ends up in an impoverished state. Television mediums take on the role of oracles, science educators take on the role of priests, celebrity families become our gibbering pantheon. Stones became capable of healing our ailments again, technical analysis becomes our new divination, aliens become our new angels, dead people control stray dogs, racists and religious fundamentalists become the new witches lurking in the woods. This human instinct is too strong to wipe out, it will always take on new forms. In fact, I would argue that what separates us from animals on one hand and machines on the other is that we are spiritual beings.
What is important to understand is that religions can die out, even if they are thousands of years old or make claims to harbor absolute truths. Just 25% of Dutch people claim to be Christian and just 13% of Dutch Catholics believe in heaven. By 2025, two thirds of Catholic churches in the Netherlands will have closed down. This kind of annihilation of a religion is quite rapid and it's difficult to imagine any other outcome than the annihilation of Christianity in Europe. I'm not saying this with a sense of glee, I simply consider this to be the most likely outcome. I would have rather seen Christianity reform itself into a form that is capable of incorporating the new philosophical insights that were arrived at in recent centuries, but it failed to adapt to its new cultural environment and as a consequence its demise now seems inevitable.
The problem the Christian God has, is that people struggle to notice his presence. A Goddess like Freyja is associated with love, sex, beauty and fertility, as a result we notice her presence everywhere. The Christian God is associated with something external. He claims to have created this world, but he seems to regret making it. He expects us to live sober lives, in preparation for a reward that should follow after our deaths. In this world, he no longer seems to do much of anything.
This is the big problem that Yahweh suffers. He is an external God, who teaches us to abandon our interest in this world. He designates a number of saints to help us find lost items and address other problems, but he himself seems to have no interest in interacting with our world. The problem that arises is that we are left with very little reason to interact with him, when there are so many other deities known to our culture that are very eager to bring their attributes into this world. We only tend to interact with an external God when we have lost all hope of making something of the world we live in. It is for this reason that the Christian God started out as a deity of slaves and the brutally oppressed. The Christian vision of man's role now clashes with our own perspective on life. The placid and submissive character of Mary contrast with the assertive nature of a Goddess like Freyja and our culture today feels more sympathy towards the latter character than the prior.
The same claim to absolute truths and eternal consequences that allowed Christianity to rise to the forefront is now the absolutism that will bring about its demise. People today struggle to have faith in an omnipotent and benevolent deity. They also struggle to have faith in the absolute truth of a creed to the exclusion of all others, as opening a book like the Bhagavad Gita exposes them to a wisdom and beauty that leaves them embarrassed when they return to read their own scripture. They long for religion as part of a coherent cultural tradition, but the universalism inherent to Christianity means that it now imagines itself to be the native creed of the Papuan as well as the Inuit, ensuring that neither of them can genuinely identify themselves with this Jewish messiah who expects us to consume wheat and wine to remember him, crops that do not grow in their native environment. The stories of Freyja and Thor are not credible, but they do not have to be credible to appeal, so long as they give people a sense of continuity in their history and a sense of grounding to their identity.
The atheism that characterizes the European continent today has to be understood as a transitory stage, a corpse that will be consumed by new religious traditions that exist either still in embryonic form or still have to develop. A religion like Asatru stands a good chance of growing into a dominant cultural phenomenon in a place like Iceland, but its appeal will be relatively limited outside of the Nordic countries that have held onto the indigenous Germanic creed for so long. Not enough is simply known of these traditions to reconstruct them and to gain a sense of insight into the context that underlies the myths that have been passed onto us. Just as it's difficult to make sense of the Bible or the Quran without access to a tradition of interpretation, it's practically impossible to make sense of Germanic mythology based solely on the writings that have survived into our era. Whatever Asatru will be, it will be something new. This should not concern us however, because it is the nature of (healthy) religions to continually evolve.
If we look at history we arrive at the inevitable conclusion that religion functions. Religious societies thrive, irreligious ones implode. A materialist interpretation would be that religions endorse a pattern of behavior that is associated with improved fitness. A religion that considers abortion, birth control, homosexuality and divorce to be sinful will tend to give birth to more people than a religion that has no qualms with any these practices. I personally believe however, that this is an oversimplification. Religions thrive because religious devotion delivers the results its followers yearn for.
A man like John Dee was wise enough to lecture on the geometry of Euclid in his early twenties, help people navigate around the world and serve as an advisor to Queen Elisabeth. If he believed that he could communicate with angels and learn their angelic language in the process, a perfectly viable explanation would be that he simply did communicate with angels. A large range of people claim to have entered into contact with supernatural beings. If science can't tell us anything meaningful about these contacts, it does not necessarily follow from this that the contact itself did not occur.
We know that we enter into a state every night during which we undergo experiences that are entirely divorced from consensus reality around us. We can live through terrifying events or passionate encounters without opening our eyes. In fact, most of us live more exciting lives when our eyes are closed than when we are awake. Similarly, intense spirituals experiences during which we enter into contact and communicate with non-material entities can take place entirely in an internal experience, without leaving a trace of evidence for the external world.
In addition, just because an event does not violate the range of options rendered possible by naturalistic laws, does not mean that the event itself is a consequence of those naturalistic laws. If I decide to sit down on the ground, this is fully within the realm of physically plausible options. This doesn't mean that the act of me sitting down on the ground predictably follows from mathematical laws, as you can't use science to predict the decisions I will take. In a similar manner, we have no way of disproving various religious claims that do not outright violate the laws of physics. The divine intervention that some claim to have experienced can perhaps best be compared to a boat that navigates through a river: It can chart a course within the constraints of its physical environment.
A big trend that I expect to witness emerge in the coming decades is that spirituality will take on an increasingly personal form. The reason for this is that the biggest miracles in our lives tend to occur internally, rather than externally. It also fits within the general trend towards greater individualism seen in our society, which religion happens to lag behind. Whereas we used to practice fasts and made use of various incenses to trigger alternative mental states, today globalization has ensured that the means to trigger a much wider variety of alternative mental states are now available to people around the world.
In one study, a third of people who took Psilocybe mushrooms reported having a mystical experience. For half of them, this was the single most spiritually significant experience in their lifetimes. It's not easy to explain what happens when you take these mushrooms. At small to moderate doses, you will tend to find your mind occupied by very abstract philosophical thoughts, about the nature of existence. At higher doses, you will tend to find your mind exposed to complex kaleidoscopic patterns upon closing your eyes. it's possible to enter into contact with autonomous entities who can communicate with you directly through your own mind. It's also possible at such doses to experience a process known as ego death. When this happens, the concepts of time, physical space and individuality cease to make sense. It is as if you wake up in a disembodied state that feels more real than the world you currently inhabit. You will feel as if you arrived at this phenomenon from multiple experiences, as if you have gone through multiple incarnations and find all of them lead back to the same single point.
For me personally, this proved to be a more significant experience than any organized religion could ever offer me. It can be best seen as a form of gnosis, direct intuitive wisdom without reliance on intermediaries. For some reason, I see very few people connect the dots and recognize that the spread of these entheogenic substances that used to be off limit to all except for a limited number of tribes in remote regions is going to have a dramatic revolutionary impact on the nature of modern spirituality. It took until the 21st century before people really began to gain access to substances like Salvia Divinorum and Ayahuasca in droves.
Religions in the form we know them in today are the result of the transcendental historically being inaccessible to the vast majority of the public except through intermediaries. This is not how things will function in the future. Regardless of what might happen to the course of our civilizations, the cat is now out of the bag. People around the world today have access to Psilocybe spores and knowledge as to how to grow these mushrooms. Hobbyists are even learning how to cultivate their psychedelic sisters, like those from the Panaeolus genus. The Salvia plant was similarly nearing extinction upon its discovery by Westerners, but today strains are grown around the world. Syrian rue has spread as a weed across the United States.
It's necessary to understand that the cultivators of today will be the medicine men of the future. Psilocybe mushrooms, cannabis, salvia divinorum and other plants aren't just more effective at treating a wide range of conditions than man-made patentable substances, they're more affordable as well. The dominant culture we live in is dying, what will replace it is what now lurks on its fringes. The symptoms of the dominant culture's looming death can be seen in the simple fact that those who follow its rules are not thriving, while those who live on its margins are. This is a reversal of the trend, as those who live on its fringes used to die slow deaths.
Today we witness young people who do exactly what they're told and end up with massive college debt that prohibits them from starting families and buying houses, while those who went and bought bitcoin against all expert opinions are left with small fortunes. We witness people who spent their entire lives saving for their retirement, only to watch their pension fund collapse. We witness people who visit doctors for vague ailments, only to receive surgeries and medication with side-effects worse than the original disease. Nobody believes the dominant culture anymore and so it now seeks to grasp control over all information channels. It seeks to blind you to the fact that there are people out there living on its margins who are thriving, while you are suffering.
Christianity started out as an underground cultural phenomenon that inverted some of the most popular ideas of its time. The various new subcultures that are emerging today will similarly give birth to the religions of the future. Import to understand is that their teachings don't have to be solely novel or solely based on some obscure tradition. Christianity is a product of religious syncretism, what we will witness come into existence today will be similarly based in a diverse range of traditions. I can incorporate into my own theology the ideas of John Heydon or William Blake as readily as I can incorporate those of Angelus Silesius or Jakob Böhme. I can read the Edda's as easily as the Bhagavad Gita. The idea that we ought to be grounded in one spiritual tradition to the exclusion of all others is a peculiar Abrahamic phenomenon that is unheard of in the Orient.
To keep a long story short, modernity has in many ways given birth to unique conditions that will make the course of the future uniquely different from the history that preceded us. At the same time, the future will resemble the past in broader aspects, as human needs do not genuinely change. What genuinely changes are merely the means we use to fulfill our human craving for the transcendental. People still have a need to relate themselves to the rest of the cosmos. Zoroastrianism has gone from a world-governing religious philosophy to an obscure sect and yet its prophesized Shaoshyant still hasn't made his presence known. I expect something similar to occur for those who expect the messiah to return any day now.
As prophecy after prophecy fails to deliver us from this world that our dominant religious philosophies make a habit of regularly badmouthing, people will begin to figure out that this world does not deserve the slander that prophets and scriptures heap onto it. The era of looking outwards for salvation is coming to an end and now people are beginning to learn to revalue this living Earth and all of its gifts that we have so long taken for granted as we bowed down in the dust, begging for a rapture to take us to the heavens above. A new era is emerging now, as people begin to recognize the potential we have to make this living Earth a paradise that no heaven could approximate. I'm eager to see this new world blossom.

A few thoughts - Monday, August 18, 2014

Good afternoon! A few thoughts for lunch today:

bit_by_bit's thoughts on "social capital"

bit_by_bit made an interesting post on the idea of "social capital," which I thought was worth mentioning here. At http://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/2ds548/what_is_going_on_with_the_rise_and_rise_of/cjsmm5q, he talks about the death of his grandfather, for which I offer my sincerest condolences. Having attended the funeral, he mentions how friends and family have caused him grief about his support of bitcoins. bit_by_bit is incorrect in his posts where he writes bitcoins off as "dying." At the same time, if bitcoins were "dying" right now, then my least concern would be about what my friends think of me.
What bit_by_bit says about "social capital" is completely true. If your goal is to make lots of friends, then you can approach the problem scientifically by following rules. For example, a good way to make friends is to talk to lots of people and to never share controversial opinions. Toastmasters has a good template for this in one of their advanced communications manuals; there is a four-step process they suggest on how to introduce yourself to someone you've never met before. Following the process, you can move from talking about the weather to politics to discussing your divorce in ten minutes. I imagine it would be possible to attend lots of parties and use this technique on many people, making lots of people one might misinterpret as friends.
Once you have those friends, then the best way to keep them is to agree with them as much as possible. Some people are shallow creatures and turn against their friends easily. I mentioned the situation with the family member and the damaged property in a previous post, and the core issue in that situation preventing action was the family member's worry of what friends of friends would think should a stand be taken on repayment.
For good or bad, unlike bit_by_bit, I don't worry about "social capital." I worry about whether I treat people fairly and about what is right and wrong, not about how many friends I will lose or gain by taking actions. People who live their lives worrying about what other people think end up with legions of shallow acquaintences, like the people I know who do little with each other except go out on Fridays and get drunk. Even if bitcoins were dead, friends and family members who would make rude jokes at someone's expense are lesser people who aren't worth associating with. Why should bit_by_bit (or you or I) place the same level of credence in what they think as in someone who is caring and treats others with respect? Rather than losing respect, bit_by_bit has actually gained valuable information, because the respect of such people doesn't matter, and because he now has a smaller number of friends who he deserve more of his time and attention.
If bitcoins were to die, I would not be concerned whatsoever about what colleagues or friends thought of my discussions about them. I would be profoundly disappointed that I live in a world where people are so stupid and closed-minded that they were not able to recognize how bitcoins could have improved the lives of everyone so dramatically.

Some comments on the recent decline

sqrt7744 has an interesting comment about the ongoing decline at http://www.reddit.com/BitcoinMarkets/comments/2duufu/daily_discussion_monday_august_18_2014/cjti1za. In it, he mentions that markets are irrational and also talks about how the falling prices make it difficult to convince newer people to invest. But I don't think that this selloff is irrational like he does.
One thing that's noteworthy about his comment is where he discusses the impact of Ben Lawsky on bitcoin prices. It's reasonable to make a case that this decline was directly caused by Lawsky's regulations. There are some issues with the timing of that argument, so readers can consider for themselves whether Lawsky singlehandedly caused these declines.
The selloffs during the last cycle every time there was some Chinese news were irrational, because bans in China never represented a fundamental threat to bitcoins. While there are still a few posts that continue to claim the fundamentals have not changed (moral_agent has firmly sided with the people who think that we are still in the previous cycle by not changing his charts), some people in /bitcoinmarkets are finally starting to wake up now. The current selloffs are rational, because they are based on fear of one of the two things that can cause bitcoins to fail: that people simply don't want to use them. The question for this cycle is not whether governments will allow bitcoin usage but whether people will use them, and the cycle won't end until that is proven one way or the other months from now. What happened is very simple: people aren't using bitcoins at the same rate as before, July 24 came without adoption having increased, and people who see they can make more money in stocks and other investments left.
As an aside, I should note that the transaction volume has remained unchanged compared to the number of transactions, so it looks like the increasing number of transactions is a false indicator. Anyone can increase the number of transactions by spending a small amount to send a little money to lots of people. The chart to look at is "transaction volume," which hasn't moved.
My bottom line: I remain bearish, just as I did at every step since $620. This downturn does not end tomorrow or next week and because this crash was caused by a change in the fundamentals, there needs to be another change in the fundamentals before recovery begins. The only exception to this rule would be if the price reaches $150 or some unlikely absurd value in a matter of a day, in which case it would make sense to buy huge even if it is just to make short-term gains.

Redefining "speculation"

I think it's worth redefining the term "speculation" to mean "wealth storage." People who buy bitcoins and don't spend them are not leeches upon the network. In addition to providing liquidity, they are using bitcoins for one of their intended purposes: storing their wealth away from the hands of governments and everyone else so that it is available anywhere in the world.
Spending bitcoins on products and services is only one use of the bitcoin network. People who say that bitcoin is "overvalued" for its current uses based on spending alone are adhering to a very limited view of the network's usefulness. I argue that the most useful feature of the network is its ability to store huge amounts of wealth, and that is even more useful than the transactional features. When we redefine the value of bitcoins to include wealth storage, then we have to also redefine the "basic value" of the network to determine whether it is overbought or oversold.

PETA "changes its mind" about switching to P2Pool

On Friday, PETA changed its mind about switching to P2Pool, stating that its hardware wasn't compatible and that they could achieve lower variance by not switching. Such an action is likely illegal, as over 90% of shareholders voted for the switch. If I owned shares or had any association with them whatsoever, I would be selling and would get out immediately with whatever I can salvage.
The company made headlines a few months back when they announced that they would be switching to promote decentralization, and received huge support (and huge money) from the community. A post on Friday attracted quite a bit of negative publicity, so hopefully people who read it will stop supporting them and the company will pay for its duplicity.

Gavin Andresen makes over $206,000

I wanted to make a quick note that it was revealed last week that gavinandresen makes over $206,000 for his work as a bitcoin developer. I've never heard of a software engineer who makes anywhere close to that much; it's almost three times what I make.
As a genius, this is the one case where I can say that he deserves every cent he makes. Most of the time, you hear about stories of CEOs who earn $3m or $10m in cash and bonuses and stock options - but these CEOs don't actually produce any work for the company. Andresen works hard and actually produces meaningful stuff that advances the purpose of his organization. A company can survive without a CEO, but it can't survive if it doesn't have deveopers producing a product. It's good to see the right people getting rewarded for their work, rather than CEOs leeching off others' hard work.
